Hi there.
I'm a Chattanooga based technician who has just aquired his new Droid2G from work, the same day I upgraded to WP7 for my personal phone.

I travel the country (and out) with work, and can honestly say the difference I've seen with dumb phones has been a wash, one company to the other. Sometimes ATT service beats Verizon, other times, the opposite is true.

I have an IP3 in house to play with, when my fanboi son lets me, and burned through Symbian years ago.

My D2G replaces a Blackberry Storm2, which I have to lump under the category of dumb phones. Sure it has apps available and it excels at email, but the limited memory makes it a poor choice for a technician who enjoys tinkering with the platform.

I'm 57 years old, but by no means someone not tech savvy. I intend to push both units to their limit so I can speak with knowledge when I render an opinion about either. My one trade off, I insisted upon physical keyboards for both units.

1st day impression:

The Quantum is awesome It is fast and intuitive. I like the way things are laid out, and the social networking applications flow nicely.

The D2G reminds me of a high powered racecar. I'm talking Cart here, not Nascar. Froyo is everything I had hoped it be. Rock stable and fast. Of course, 1.2 Ghz doesn't hurt either.
Again, this is only the sum experience of one day, but I intend to occasionally relate my experience with one or both here.

Cheers.
